0install-core software package provides cross-distribution packaging system (non-GUI parts), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install 0install-core
0install-core is installed in your system.
Make ensure the 0install-core package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep 0install-core *
You will get with 0install-core package name, version, architecture and description in a table
